Why should I upgrade my VPS disk to an SSD?

SSD disks are considerably faster than standard mechanical disks, offering lower seek times, faster read/write performance and faster random access performance. No other major UK hosting provider offers VPS with disk speeds this fast.

A SSD VPS is particularly well-optimised for database servers, application servers and websites that are strongly data-driven (ie. those that give customers direct access to a large data set, allowing them to construct complicated searches).

In English, please?!

Environmental Conservation

Even if you’re hosting pretty standard websites on your VPS, you can still benefit from upgrading to an SSD disk for your storage needs.
• Better read speeds – File access is faster, which also means your website is faster.
 • Better write speeds – Data modifications are faster – great for database servers.
 • Virtually no seek time – applications like database servers, file servers and busy websites work better and deal with higher loads better.
A VPS fitted with an SSD is more environmentally friendly than a standard VPS. They consume less power, run cooler and quieter, and are generally more efficient than VPS with regular disks.
