Using apps to streamline your business
We’ve all heard the phrase “There’s an App for that!” but, when it comes to SMEs, there’s a veritable plethora of business apps available that can increase productivity, open up new opportunities and lower costs considerably.
You could be losing out if you're not using an app
The fact is, if your people aren’t using apps (both on smart phones and tablets), you're missing out on dozens of different ways to take your business to the next level. Today's SMEs are more diverse and seemingly disconnected than ever, making the use of apps even more important in order to keep your people and your team connected, make sure projects are being finished on time and cut down on costs in many different areas.
Research shows that nearly £39 billion was saved by SME's by using an app
If you have a large number of employees who are in the field more than in the office, or working from home, the right apps can make sure that pertinent and time-sensitive information can easily and quickly be passed back and forth between both your team and your customers, and on-time as well.
For example, a study performed on behalf of The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE) about the use of apps for SMEs found that the annual savings from reduced employee hours alone was nearly £39 billion for those SMEs that employ 20 people or less, and that was way back in 2011. The proliferation of smartphones in the last 3 years would likely increase that number significantly.
Apps help you do it better, faster and easier
Look at it this way; no matter what type of business you run, or what industry you're in, there are apps made to help you do it better, faster, easier and more economically. Heck, many of them are free!
Need help with your social media marketing? There's an app for that. How about tracking expenses? There's an app for that. Helping your salespeople find the cheapest gasoline when they’re on the road? Yep, there's an app for that too! There are also apps for processing credit card payments, managing your finances, planning corporate travel, Invoicing and tracking man-hours and processing your credit card payments, and all of them can help streamline your business, cut down on man-hours, increase productivity and help your business save money.
Technology is an important part of playing with bigger businesses
The use of apps for small to medium sized enterprises was summed up very nicely by Raymond J. Keating, the chief economist for the SBE, who said that ”Technology continues to level the playing field so that the little guys can more ably compete with the big guys in the business world.”
In short, if you own and run a SME, and you're keen on competing with the "big guys”, one of the best ways to do it is to start putting the myriad of business apps available for today's smartphones and tablets to work for your business.
